On the 1st of June 1965 the boarding-house "Alpenhof" was established with 24 beds, which are today’s double rooms Schneibstein. Michael und Johanna Hinterbrandner built the foundation for today’s Hotel****Alpenhof.

Six years later, again on the 1st June, the Alpenhof was enlarged with 16 beds, today’s double rooms Grünstein, and the first private indoor swimming pool in Berchtesgaden. The boarding house had become a hotel!

In the year 1975 the hotel was enlarged again with 15 spacious double room apartments called Watzmann. An Annex for curative health spa treatment was also constructed.

In 1981 a part of the first building was pulled down and the today’s double room apartments Jenner were built. Also a new kitchen, the restaurant, the billiard-room and the other "leisure time rooms" followed one after the other.

	In 1986 the Alpenhof was completed with the double-room-apartments Edelweiß and our new indoor swimming pool.  Since this time, the Alpenhof can accommodate 100 guests. In 1999 we roofed the main entrance area, so you can step in the hotel dry, without exposure to rain.
In May 2003 we opened the first all year round heated outdoor pool with 86°F in Berchtesgaden County. Especially when it is snowing, swimming outside is very exiting.
